This is the age of information and technology. By the advancement in technology, electronic devices are becoming cheaper and cheaper. Advancing in computer devices, computer network and internet facilities have been accessible even to the general users. They use computer and computer related devices in homes, office, even in mobile devices. They use internet for their personal, business and organizational purposes. Most of the large organizations are based on web for their better profit, advertisement and access to all around the globe with minimum cost.

Information system, which is used to communicate through any medium or by using technology, is called information communication technology. Information Communication Technology (ICT) literally use to clarify its meaning, which refers to the merging of telephone network with computer networks. The term ICT has grown in usage for the nation wise electronic information exchange system. Information Technology (It) is the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of information systems. Information technology is a general term that describes any technology that helps to produce, manipulate, store, communicate or broadcast information 

Government sectors, corporate houses, private sectors and other join this emerging field of the Internet. The transaction of money also goes through electronics system i.e. the money has become e-money. There is a chance of fraud where money and fame are present. To protect users from illegal use of Information and Communication Technology, the cyber law has emerged. It is used to control all activities by laws enforced by the government.

Social Impact of the ICT

The Information and Communication Technology has brought revolutions in almost all areas. Our life and all the areas of our society have been directly or indirectly affected by ICT. For example, ticket reservation and reservation in civil aviation, withdrawal, deposit, money transfer and other transaction in banking system, information handling in school and college etc involves some sort of ICT.

The communication using information technology has brought revolution in the world. Without ICT, any business in the world may not achieve its goal as desired. The success of the business and other organization depends on the ICT. Thus, it has been the backbone of small organizations to large enterprises.

Nowadays, the progresses of countries are measured on the basis of ICT. If development of ICT is at climax, then such country is considered as highly developed. Although the ICT has been indispensable element of the modern society, it has caused both positive and negative impacts in the society.

1. Create Opportunity for Technological Employment: It is believed that ICT has created many new jobs like programmer, data entry operator, network administrator, system analyst, DBA, CDA engineer etc. Almost all activities of the office and organizations have been computerized and as a result, people with ICT skill will get the good jobs.
2. Fast and Cheap Communication: Due to ICT, communication at present days has been very fast and cheap. The communication using internet services such as email, voice mail, chat etc. is really very cheap and fast in comparison to the former methods of communication. 
3. E-Commerce: E-Commerce is the online business transaction which is becoming more and more popular day by day. E-Commerce is possible only due to the ICT. So, ICT has brought the positive impact in the field of e-commerce.
4. Education: ICT has caused very positive impact in the field of education as ICT has provided education on door steps. ICT has made it possible to provide online education and distance education breaking the geographical barrier to get education.
5. Health Care: ICT has brought many positive impacts in the field of health care. Due to the ICT, telemedicine has been possible which has been boon for the people of remote areas where expert health personnel cannot reach. Similarly many computerized program such as MYCIN, PUFF etc. are well known expert system for the correct and quick diagnosis of the health related diseases.
6. Multimedia Presentation: ICT has revolutionized the field of multimedia presentation. Due to the ICT, multimedia methods of presentation provides us information in a variety of media, including text and graphics, voice and other digitized audio, photographs and video.
